Take Your Superheroes to Super Kids Day out This Children’s Day

Workshop on Children's Day

A child with Reshmi Dey learning glass designing at Glass Sutra

Kids are curious beings. Their imagination is unrestrained. The level of creativity your kid holds in his tiny brain is unconceivable.

Let this imagination find wings. Let your kid express their creativity without restraint.

This Children’s Day, plan a creative kid’s day out with Glass Sutra’s Glass Art Workshop.

Glass Art is the art of giving form to molten liquid glass and creating beautiful glass structures using the techniques of flame-work.

Does that make you think that it’s not safe for your kids? Forget your worries because Glass Making is absolutely safe at Glass Sutra. We provide all the safety gear to our workshop attendees and conduct our workshops under the expert surveillance of the International Glass Artist- Reshmi Dey and her team.

How does Glass Art benefit children?

It’s a fast moving world with a lot of competition. Children are always under pressure to be “good enough” for their age.  This constant invisible pressure sometimes takes a toll on your kid’s creativity. And creativity being a very important part of human development and also a key to a successful and content life, it should be our responsibility to help our children indulge in art.

Glass Making in India is yet an under-recognized art which has a lot of potential to help people of all ages explore their inner creativity through the art of shaping glass into exquisite forms. Glass Sutra aims to throw light at this beautiful art form and make it not just a medium of escape from everyday life and a medium of creative expression, but also a viable career option for our future generation. Reshmi Dey, the founder of Glass Sutra is an international Glass Artist and realizes the scope of success this art form beholds.

Giving your children exposure to such an art form, while also allowing them to discover their creative forces, is an opportunity to grab. Here are some of the benefits of glass making for your children:

  • Ignites creativity
  • Enhances analytical thinking
  • Builds self-confidence and positive energy
  • Stimulates coordination between the Left and the Right brain
  • Motivates self-development
  • Gives a potential career option

Do children enjoy Glass Art?

Glass Making allows children to satiate their thirst for learning and seeking new activities to perform. Since it allows them to be creative and free, children tend to enjoy this break from their everyday routine of school and home. Glass Sutra has conducted several workshops with children and they have been a huge success. Children always have a way to surprise us and so did they in our last workshop.

Reveling in the Glory of Functional Art – Glass Blowing

Glass Art Workshop

Glass Sutra aims to take glass-making out of the darkness and make it recognizable in the mainstream art.

Reshmi Dey with her Glass Art Work

The universe has taken billions of years to form, but at Reshmi’s Glass Workshop, her small glass models of universe take shape in just a few hours and take the form of several functional art pieces.

Art, when suitable for utilitarian purposes, becomes functional art. Blurring the boundaries between fine art and everyday life, functional art aims to bring beauty in routine items. Glass art infuses fine art aesthetics into items of everyday use making our lives more beautiful and artistic.

Glass Sutra, a studio in the National Capital Delhi found by Reshmi Dey, an international glass artist, aims to bring the magnificence of functional glass art into limelight.Despite being a country rich of artists, glass artistry has not found a lot of hands to work and develop an industry that could also occupy the mainstream art scene.

“I have studied glass art internationally and coming back to my home country, I realized that this brilliant form is still undermined. Through Glass Sutra, I wish to spread this art form amongst the young creative minds and give them a platform to pursue career paths in Glass-Blowing,” addresses Reshmi.

Letting the children learn to create glass art pieces is not even considered an option in our country. Let alone learning, people are not even exposed to the idea that this is possible and that it might also result in a ‘real’ bread-earning career.

Reshmi, however, has a way to make it happen.

Learning Glass Art

Glass sutra, India’s first comprehensive public access Glass Art Studio, organizes programs for school and college students to indulge in glass blowing and learning the art of making glass pieces on their own. Under the expert guidance of artists, students get exposed to the art that is yet at a nascent stage in India.

This exposure of art amongst students is aimed at awareness of an art form and the enlightenment that there is a career option that was never known before amongst the well-to-do strata- Glass Art.

Reshmi confirms, “I want these impressionable minds to have an idea of what it is like to follow art such that they figure out for themselves whether they want to pursue it or not. I want to tell them that ‘look, you have one more option to choose from.’ It’s okay if they decide not to be a glass artist, but they should at least know that they can also choose to be one.”

Glass art catharsis through Corporate Workshops

“I don’t head to a desktop job every morning to work 9-5 and get juggled up in hundreds of emails. I get up every morning knowing that it’s another bright day when I can give shape to another form of art and pursue my passion while bringing a change in the world as I see it. This is about art. Not a run-of-the-mill job. I want this feeling to be known to others,” says Reshmi.

Glass Sutra organizes corporate workshops for organizations who wish to take their employees to employee engagement activities that are little off the league. Through these workshops, Glass Sutra wishes to achieve multiple goals like giving a cathartic experience to employees through glass making, team building and above all, the awareness of an art form that has not received the recognition it deserves.

With wide usage of glass art, it’s one form of functional art that is yet underrated. Not missing the sheer beauty of illuminating chandeliers, exotic bottles of perfume and whisky decanters, glass art is functional in everyday life. Our house is full of functional pieces of glass including vases and fine dinnerware. Glass Sutra recognizes the various functions of glass art and is celebrating the glory of functional art-glass blowing.

“The most beautiful thing about this art form is that it does not just create art that is restricted behind glass walls for decoration. It’s also functional,” emphasizes Reshmi. “This is why I find it even more pertinent to spread it amongst creative minds in our nation because functional art in India has been well-recognized already, so why should we leave ourselves behind when it comes to another beautiful art form?”

Glass Sutra is celebrating the glory of functional Glass Art. Will you join us? Find an activity that suits you and pay us a visit. You don’t always need to be associated with a school or a corporate to pay us a visit- as said; we are a public access glass making studio. Fan the flames of Your Inner Creativity with a Glass Art Workshop

Fan the flames of Your Inner Creativity with a Glass Art Workshop

Uncategorized

Each of us has got a creative streak. For some of us, it’s hidden somewhere deep within, guarded by our not-so-dominant guardian angel of creativity. Lulling your logical angles for some time and triggering the creative one, however, is not as difficult a task as it seems.

They say…

Creativity is nothing but a mind set free.

-Torrie T. Asai

And that if you clear out a corner of your mind, creativity will instantly fill it (Dee Hock).

“At Glass Sutra, we intend to set people’s minds free and allow creativity to seep in. Glass blowing is definitely a fine art, but here, we wish to let non-artists get a scoop of this wonderful experience,” says Reshmi Dey, the Founder of Glass Sutra.

Glass Sutra is India’s first ever glass studio that conducts Corporate Workshops for glass art offering organizations an opportunity to let their employees experience glass making and fuel their creative forces.

“Our corporate workshop is not just about allowing the freedom to make mistakes and create art with a free mind; it’s more about breaking the monotony of everyday workplaces and giving a medium of expression  to them,” further adds Ms. Dey.

A glass blowing workshop at Glass Sutra aims to bring a team together and let them experience the sheer beauty of creating something out of scratch https://www.facebook.com/GlassSutra/videos/1244073119032925/

The two to four -hours workshop at Glass Sutra can fuel up your souls in many ways evoking your creative angels and leaving you with more creative ability to take real-world decisions strategically.

Freedom from chasing perfection

Reshmi continues about the workshop, “Life of a corporate is filled with chasing perfection. At our Glass Blowing sessions, we disrupt this battle for perfection and allow participants to simply follow the flow without worrying about the end result.”

It renders a sense of freedom and confidence amongst participants and often, it results in unbelievably magical outcomes.

Patience and Poise

“The essence of art is in perseverance. You don’t hustle or create something in deadlines. You enjoy the process and do it with utmost patience and poise,” cautions Reshmi.

Glass Art Workshop emphasizes on the significance of tranquility in dealing with real life situations.

Creative expression of your innermost feelings

Glass blowing allows your creativity to take physical shapes.  Ms. Dey clarifies, “You don’t need to be an expert. A glass artist guides you throughout, and you can give form to your formless thoughts and feelings.”

Such creative expression of your innermost feelings is capable of yielding ecstasy and is almost orgasmic.

A breather from everyday pragmatism

“Shaping a piece of glass art gives the much-needed hiatus from the societal norms of rational and pragmatism,” gushes Reshmi with an enthusiastic smile.

A glass making workshop nurtures creativity by giving your left brain a little rest. While blowing your desired shape on a bubble of molten glass, you let go of your pragmatism and creativity flourishes.

It’s therapeutic

“Creativity does not flourish in stress. Likewise, stress does not breed when creativity prospers,” asserts Ms. Dey.  When your creative thoughts take a physical form, the experience is purely therapeutic. Corporate glass making workshop at Glass Sutra hopes to provide a healing experience where participants can revive their minds and thinking capabilities to result in a refreshed perspective towards everyday state of affairs.

The power of creativity is writ large in the history of the world, and organizations that realize this have taken a step forward to bring their employees face to face with this experience that we call “GLASSPERIENCE”. The Google India (MEGA) team and the LG Design Team recently took part in a Glass Art Workshop at Glass Sutra, and the sessions were no less than euphoric.

Not just corporate, Glass Sutra also conducts classes for kids and other individuals who aspire to learn or simply experience the beauty of glass making.

“The burgeoning bustle of this competing world calls for a fresh perspective on things.  We wish to proliferate creativity through glass making because it’s time to see the world through a creative lens,” concludes Reshmi Dey.
